PA 5740 - new power amplifier for battery simulation

PA 5740 that was part of a recent product preview is now released. This amplifier is based on the same technology of the successful PA 5840, but with lower current and features set that will be interesting to a customer interested in a budget solution. The PA 5740 will fill the market gap that was left with the removal of the NSG 5004A. The beta test site was so impressed with the amplifier that they immediately requested a quotation for a full voltage variation system.

 

Battery simulators replace the vehicle battery in the test environment. These
sources must fulfill various criteria concerning power rating, voltage, slew rate, impedance etc., depending on the particular application. Bi-polar current sources are specified for in several cases. The PA 5740 is used with an NSG 5600 to generate Pulse 2b, pulse 4, sine wave noise and other complex simulations. Of course the amplifier is also perfectly suited for ISO 7637 compliant simulated conducted transient testing.

 

Designed specifically for automotive EMC testing, Schaffner’s 42V ready amplifier sets the pace for automotive battery simulation including features necessary for automotive immunity testing such as sense wires for cable voltage drop compensation and several operating modes for stability with complex automotive loads.
